Safari Blue!
This was the first time we could be a tourist! I wore shorts that showed my knees and a tank top because we were having a bus pick us up and then going straight to the water, so we would not be seen in town. We had a bit of an interesting start to the trip.. The bus didnt know which road to take and then when we got to the beach the guide wasnt there.. we ended up just walking down the beach for a bit which was nice..
then once the guide arrived, the boat wasnt ready yet!! Once it finally was ready, we had to walk about 200m out because the tide was so low.. that was a disaster! two of the girls stepped on sea erchants on the way out.. i decided to put my sandals on for the walk out thankfully!! they were in pain the rest of the day! the boat took us straight to an island that was no bigger than 300m long and about 100m wide.. there were just tarps set up everywhere to block the sun and mzungus everywhere!!!! that time was just spent lying on the beach and swimming.. i have never swam in a warmer ocean!
we also got coconut and pineapple frechly cut for us by the guides and cold fantas and water!! it was amazing!!! the safari was starting to go uphill real fast! we werent there for too long because the tide was coming in really fast and submerging the island!!
after our stay there, we got back on the boat to do some snorkeling.. i had a little trouble with my mask, but it was still really cool.. im not a fan of the tiny jelly fish though!! i got tons of stings that hurt for about a minute and then go away… but i got at least 3 while i was swimming.. after that snorkeling session we got back on the boat to head to another island.. we passed the first one we had been at and it was fully under water!! once we got to the other beach we sat down to have lunch
we knew it was going to be a seafood lunch but none of us were expecting a buffet!!! it was sooooooo good!! we had chipsi, rice, some salsaish sauce, squid, shrimp, chicken, veggies, bread, some other kinda fish, and lots of fruit!!! i was so full after and it was awesome. then we were shown to another part of the island where there was this HUUUGEEE tree.. it must have fallen down many years ago but it kept growing.. we were able to climb on it and get pictures.. then it was time to head back out on the water
first we went through some area with caves and a island that was all coral.. it was kinda eerie, but really cool.. then it was time to go back in the water.. we decided to just have a diving competion instead of snorkeling haha.. it was a good decision!! it was a lot of fun, despite the jelly fish stings again..
finally it was time to head back! we had a sing along session on the dala dala ride home which was actually quite funny.. the driver thought we were crazy!!! once we got home, we just relaxed in our rooms until dinner.. which was awesome again!
the plan was to go out that night to a bar (where no one is because drinking is looked down on here) haha.. but we were all too tired so just decided to play cards and hang out the rest of the night..Dr. Clem and Dr. Michelle also went to work on getting the sea erchants outta Melanie’s foot which was quite funny to watch.. it was a big production! ohhhh ya.. and i was one of the only people who didnt get burnt from the day!! saaaweet.. but i did start to get a nice tan:)
question… did you where your one piece or the bikini me and your mom recommended you bring?
….nooooo :):) haha.. it was the first time i could wear a bikini because it was all tourists lol
but i have wore it other times already, dont you worry.. i think i even have some pictures with it on..
