Death Road
Yesterday I did a mountain biking excursion down “death road – the most dangerous road in the world”. If you look up death road in Bolivia you will find an explanation of it. I initially wasn’t going to do this trip because the name made me a bit nervous, but everyone was doing it so i figured why not (haha). But now that I did it I am so happy I did, the views were amazing and I took the road at a safe pace so it wasn’t that scary.
I briefly contemplated not going in the morning because I had a screaming headache from the altitude, which was probably made worse from all the walking I did the day before. Thankfully I decided to go and actually felt better by the end of the day because we biked to a lower altitude than the hostel sits at. The ride was a total of 63km and we started at an altitude of 4700m. We started the ride in pants and sweaters at a temp of about 10 degrees and ended in shorts and t shirts at around 25 degrees. The fact that there were multiple crosses and memorials along the road did not make me feel any more comfortable about doing the ride, but I made it! I will attach some photos to attempt to show the amazing views, but it is so hard to capture. The company we went with provides a dvd with pictures and videos from the trip so i am excited to see those!

…it’s not letting me load any new pictures so I will try again later!
