Sucre
I am now in Sucre, the official capital of Bolivia (although the governmental buildings are in La Paz) and Sucre was also named a UNESCO world heritage site.
I can’t remember what I last posted since I can’t read some of my previous posts, so sorry if I’m a bit repetitive.
I didn’t do the mine tour in Potosi, like I said, and I did a city tour with another girl instead. It was decent but overpriced…the best part was touring a convent from the 1600’s that is fairly in tact and still has a few nuns living there today. After the city tour we sat in the main square and had a glass of fresh squeezed OJ- so delicious. We caught a quick (3hrs is now quick for me) bus to Sucre.
That was an interesting bus ride as we got the last 4 seats at the back of the bus and the fifth seat across the back right in the middle of us was occupied by a man and his daughter sat at his feat the whole ride. We found out once the lights came on that the poor girl was getting sick during the ride and did not have more than a plastic bag with a hole in it to catch everything. On top of that we arrived in town during a festival so it took longer than it should have with so many roads blocked. Needless to say we were all very happy to be off that bus.
However, since the roads to the bus terminal were blocked they let us off on a side street and as we were trying to hail a taxi a lady told us that it was very dangerous up the street…greeeat. luckily we found a taxi that took us to our hostel pretty fast and we were all exhausted from the traveling once again so went to bed pretty quickly.
