Huacachina for more sandboarding!
The next day we took in Cusco one last time before heading on an overnight bus to Huacachina. We arrived bright and early the next day. The bus ride there was just as nauseating as the last time with endless twists and turns through the mountain.
Huacachina was hot and sunny just as expected. We spent the first day lounging by the pool and paging through our Lonely Planet books to try to get an idea of our plans for the next few weeks. In the evening we did the sandboarding and dune buggy trip up into the sand dunes. It was just as much fun as last time, if not more because I knew the best way to go down the hill is on tour stomach! The driver I had this time was somehow even crazier than last time!
The next day we did more sun bathing and a bit of walking around the laguna to get some exercise. After all the hiking we had done we felt we deserved a break! Huacachina is a small enough place that a few waiters recognized me from the first time I was there!
Later in the day we met some other Canadians and ended hanging out with them for the rest of the day/evening. I have noticed a difference in even a few weeks that there are less tourists around as we move into the lower/rainy season.
