More of Lima
The next day in Lima we got up in good time and then caught a bus to go explore central Lima. I had gone down there with my mom before so I at least knew where to go. One thing I haven’t mentioned in my blog yet is how nice some people are that you meet on the street. The bus had to take a detour because of some road closures so we were trying to clarify in broken Spanish where to get off when one lady told us to follow her (in Spanish) because she was going the same direction, and another girl on the bus must have been listening to the conversation because then she stuck her phone in front of us with the same instructions typed out in English. It looked like she had wrote it in Spanish and then used a translator app on her phone to give us the English! For the most part people are always willing to help you! We ended up arriving at the perfect time to get a seat for the changing of the guards. I guess on Sundays they make more of a show of it and they had guys on horses playing music and doing tricks on the horses.
After the changing of the guards we went to a Monestary that had turned half of the building into a museum to showcase the catacombs that were found under the church and a few other nice rooms in the building. It was kind of creepy to see so many bones and so close up. We actually got to walk through part of the catacombs under the church.
After the museum we headed back to the neighbourhood where we were staying. We did a short bus tour of the area so we could scope out what we wanted to do the next day.
