Cajas National Park
Today was a fantastic day in the mountains. We were initially hesitant to do the day tour of the part because we figured how many mountain views can you really see until it starts getting repetitive. But we are extremely happy we did it. Cajas is unique because the flora and fauna of the area does not usually occur at the altitude it does there. We were exploring areas of the park between 3000-4200m.
Parts of the exploring we did looked like scenes from the Lord of the rings, and another part was considered a Moreland with tons of lagunas. Our guide was amazing and told us so much about the park, but also a ton about the city we were in and also Ecuador in general.
He convinced us that it was worth staying another night to see the city as well since it is one of the nicest in all of Ecuador. The tour of the national park took most of the day so in the evening we just had dinner before heading to bed.
