Banos
The last couple days we have just been relaxing and FINALLY finishing our school applications. I got a pedicure as there are an endless number of spas around. We also found a fantastic and cheap pizza place that we have eaten at twice.
Today we walked a bit out of town to some hot springs. They weren’t quite as nice as the ones we went in on our hike to Machu Picchu, but they still were good. After the hot springs we walked back to town and got a ride up to a cafe that is way up in the mountainside overlooking Baños. Initially we were considering splurging for a night at this place as it also has a spa and resort, but that was at the beginning when we still had money left. The cafe ended up being really nice with a spectacular view. Right now the sun is setting and some clouds are moving in below us and blocking the view of the town..it looks pretty neat!
Tonight we are getting on a bus that leaves at 1am to head to the coast to Montanita. Since we are near the end of our trip we are trying to maximize the time we have left, so we figured an overnight bus was best. I can’t remember if I mentioned it already, but I finally have a return flight booked for January 14th and will be home on the 15th. There are definitely mixed emotions about coming home, because I am so happy to be coming home, but sad to leave South America behind. We still have some time left though, so we are going to enjoy a few days on the beach before heading back to the cold!
