Tuesday..oh boy
So Tuesday was really good and not so good. It started off great, Gina and i had our literacy for business class that we revamped.. it was not going as well as we had hoped the previous weeks, so we sat down with Jess and Makho and completely changed the direction things were going in order to make a better class for the students..and im so happy we decided to do that! The class was awesome. we had a debate on the fact that employers dont often hire youth because they are irresponsible and not trustworthy..we got a really good discussion going and then before we knew it, the class was over!
I relaxed the afternoon, and then Chelsey and I had netball..i had found out earlier in the day that they had a match planned against another team in the area which was really cool. we met where we always do, and then walked to another area to play where the other team usually does because they had nicer nets..our girls ended up winning by a ton!! about 17-4! it was really cool to watch though.
that was when the trouble started.. on the way home, i was feeling quite sick to my stomach. i decided to not eat dinner and just go straight to bed.. in the middle of the night i had to get up and …. toss my cookies (too many details?)..so it was an uncomfortable night. in the morning, i still had no appitite, so Jess decided it would be a good idea to take me to the clinic to do a rapid malaria test just to eliminate it as a possibility. the clinic was not too far away and it is a very clean, comfortable environment.. so i got the malaria test done and had to wait about 10 min for the results.. in that time period, i had to go up a flight of stairs…aaaand pretty much collapsed at the top.. as bad as that sounds, it has happened to me in canada.. it was a result of me not eating much in the past 24 hours and having lower blood sugar levels.. so i got some food into me and felt a lot better.
i did a couple more tests and turns out a had a minor infection.. i rested the remainder of that day, and didnt go to any of my projects on thursday, although i was feeling much better with the antibiotics in me.. the family is amazing to michelle and i, but it does get a little over whelming at times.. the dad treats us like family..he brought me muffins and cashews..and then for dinner they made scrambled eggs especially for me with bread because they thought i wasnt eating.. meanwhile i have a loaf of bread in my room with jam that i had just been hoarding. i didnt have an appitite for much else than bread for a while and was extremely sensitve to smell, so would gag at the smell of some of their foods.. so i was literally FORCED to eat the eggs and bread, and then given a cup of tea, asked if i wanted one scoops or two of suger.. i said one and was given two..then, i was asked if i wanted a fanta and said no.. so the dad got the son to go to the duka(store) and buy me one!! i think them forcing food into me actually made it worse.. the thought iwas nice though, i will give them that!
aaanyways, enough rambling.. today was nice, it hasnt rained (yet)..i will be heading home after the internet and then we have play day to plan for..which is tomorrow.. it is a day for all of the kids in the area who are living with HIV and AIDS to be able to play in a stigma free environment.. we had a sneak peak at it our first day in morogoro, and i cant wait..it is just amazing to be around those kids!! even if we didnt have games planned, they would spend the whole time just taking hugs from us and sitting with us because they get neglected by people around them and even their family sometimes.. i will update more on that after the play day happens!!
taaaaalk to ya later. ps thanks for the comments, i love them!
tunester! net ball sounds so fun! you’ll have to teach us more about it when you get back! hahaha. however, the story about you puking is sort of gross. haha, but i’m glad you got some medication and are now feeling better! don’t want to miss too many days being sick! can’t wait to hear more and see pictures! 🙂 miss yah.
