Monday
We were told that Monday was some muslim holiday so we were able to spend another day in zanzi.. turns out the holiday was actually on tuesday haha.. regardless, we got to wonder around stone town for the morning!! i bought some scarves and a cool bag.. we just wondered around the streets until we came across shops that we wanted to go in.. the girls have been there for almost 2 months now and they still get lost in stone town everytime they go in! it is known for their doors, so i snapped a few pictures of some cool looking ones.. it was really nice to get a little familliar with the town since we plan on travelling there by ourselves for a bit after our project.
we had to catch the 1pm ferry.. to get home on time.. everything was straight forward again.. once we got to land we took a taxi straight to the bus station to head back to morogoro.. as soon as we got to the bus station, it began to POUR!! so we had to run out and buy our tickets.. us being the tourists that we are, decided to boot it to the bus in the pouring rain.. not realizing that everyone else is huddling inside because the rain usually lets up soon.. of course as soon as we got on the bus it let up and then stopped raining ..we had to sit in wet clothes the whole way home, oh well haha!! it was a long day of travelling!!!
it was the strangest thing once we finally got back to morogoro..all of us felt like we were home.. it was familliar ground and we couldnt wait to go home and sleep in “our” beds.. it really hit me then how much i have gotten used to life here.. thinking back to the first week we were here is crazy.. everything was strange and new.. now the falling down houses, dirt roads, kids in tatterd cloths and hot weather seems normal to me!! I had the best sleep i have had here yet and it was the best
ahhh… home sweet home! your trips to zanzibar and your day at the beaches, snorkeling and swimming sound amazing. i CANNOT wait to see these pictures!
