Lima day 2
The next day we got up in good time so w could make the most of my mom’s last day here. We started with a fantastic breakfast at the hotel…I guess that what you get when you pay more than $15 or less per night haha. We ran into a couple who was staying at the same hotel and happened to be from Guelph! They were very helpful and gave us some tips on the best was to see the historical part of Lima.
After breakfast we headed to catch a local bus to get across the city. It was easy enough to find and we passed a casino called Fortuna! There were no walking tours that we found advertised for that area, but the Lonely Planet book had a suggested route that we followed and it ended up being just perfect. It explained all the significant things we passed and took us through big squares, old hotels, churches, the market and parliament buildings.
We headed back to Miraflores in the early afternoon so we could walk around the shoreline for a bit. It was cloudy again but still beautiful. We had another nice dinner before heading back to the hotel so my mom could get ready to catch her plane 🙁 It felt so weird being back on my own again!
I headed to the airport the next morning so I could catch a 1 hour plane ride back to Cusco instead of a 22 hour bus ride. It was so much nicer and it was neat to see the mountains from above.
