Vilcabamba
Vilcabamba is beautiful! Yesterday we got it nice and early and had a delicious breakfast here. The hostel provides you with a bunch of maps showing the hiking trails in the area, so we decided to pick one of the shorter ones. The hike was nice and gave great views of the valley. There were also quite a few beautiful houses on the path that we admired as we walked by. the hike was only about 3 hours long and it ended with us being in town. Or what they consider town. The whole of Vilcabamba is only about 4200 people so the town was about 5 main roads. However, it had a few nice spots to eat so we had lunch before heading back to the hostel.
The hike was scorching hot, but unfortunately by the time we got back it had clouded over, ruining my plans of lounging by the pool for the afternoon. We still enjoyed the rest of the day and had a nice dinner at the restaurant in the hostel.
Today was a bit cloudy so we decided to make it a productive day by finally working on our school applications. We sat in the dining area to do our work overlooking the valley below.
Although I wasn’t all that active today I feel good about getting some work done on my school application. Tomorrow we are going to do another hike to a waterfall that is supposed to take about 6 hours, so I’ll be heading to bed soon to rest up for a long hike tomorrow!
