Puerto Lopez
We ended up spending an extra night in Montanita because we were enjoying the atmosphere there and liked our new accommodations. We really didn’t do much more than I said in my last post…which was relaxing on the beach. Our biggest decision of the day was always whether we should get an umbrella and chairs, or rough it on our towels :P. The one place even had beds on the beach that we ended up getting one day :).
Yesterday we made our way about 45 min up the coast to Puerto Lopez. It is more of an actual town than Montanita with the main activity being fishing. When we arrived we quickly checked into a place and then went back to the main road to hop a bus another 15 min down to the road to a beach we were told was really nice. They have a really good bus system going on up the southern coast here with busses passing about every 20 mins that you can just hop on and off of.
Los Frailes beach where we were headed is actually in a national park and we had to walk 3km from the entrance to get to the actual beach. It was worth the walk with yet another beautiful beach. We spent the afternoon there before catching a bus back to Puerto Lopez.
Today we just spent the day on the beach in Puerto Lopez. It is lined with cabanas full of hammocks and chairs so it qas easy to just stay there for lunch and dinner! unfortunately tonight we are catching the bus back to Quito. It was very hard to leave the beach and ocean today knowing I wouldn’t be coming back, at least not for quite a while!
